Frame.io and Adobe announce their intention to join forces.

Frame.io Is Joining Forces with Adobe

In March of 2015, my co-founder, John, and I launched Frame.io inside the confines of our boutique post-production company in New York City. It was a product built with a deep appreciation for the needs of video professionals, born out of our own experiences as post-production experts.

By October of that same year, we had officially become a venture backed company. Vas Natarajan of Accel put a stake in the ground and took a bet on our small and mighty team, who had a bold but unproven vision for transforming the world of video. Over the past few years, our Board grew to include some of the most renowned investors in tech, all of whom have now become cherished mentors, colleagues, and friends. Thank you to Accel, Firstmark, SignalFire, Insight, and Itai Tsiddon for believing in Frame.io.

We now have a global community of customers, supporters, partners, and employees. I want to sincerely thank each and every one of you.

Today, I’m incredibly excited to announce our intent to join forces with Adobe.

This $1.275B deal will allow us to continue our mission of transforming and creating the future of collaborative video workflows.

The world of video is seeing explosive growth.

Over the past several years, we’ve seen our industry transform and evolve in unprecedented ways.

The barrier to entry for video creators has plummeted, while demand for video has skyrocketed. Blockbuster entertainers can barely keep up with the insatiable need for streaming content; meanwhile, new businesses and storytellers are harnessing video as the ubiquitous method to inspire audiences and share information. Whether telling a brand story on social media, educating minds on how to code, launching a new product, or getting the world hyped for the next rocket launch, we’re using video everywhere. It’s an incredible time to be a video professional.

The explosive growth in video has helped catapult Frame.io to the forefront of cloud-based workflows. Frame.io enables every stakeholder, no matter where they are, to participate in the creative process with the appropriate controls, feedback tools, and privacy settings in place. And we’re just getting started. Our vision for the future of video is stronger than ever.

Why Adobe?

There is no company in the world that has had a greater, more transformative impact on the creative industry than Adobe.

Tools for creativity are core to Adobe’s DNA and, equally important, core to their business. Video is the culmination of several creative disciplines and we’ve often heard your requests for Frame.io to be more seamlessly integrated with the Creative Cloud. When I try to imagine a company where Frame.io can not only continue our innovation-oriented mission, but take it to the next level, Adobe is unquestionably the right home and the best possible team to join. We also are confident that Adobe is a culture which shares our values and a company where our team can thrive.

Our joint mission with Adobe will be to continue building Frame.io with expanded resources, while continuing to support a broad ecosystem of workflows. Over time, you can expect to see Frame.io more deeply woven into Adobe’s creative apps with a focus on making Premiere Pro the world’s most collaborative video editing platform. With our two companies joined together, the opportunities are limitless.

What does this mean for the Frame.io product?

The Frame.io product you know and love is not going anywhere.

The difference? Frame.io will simply have even more resources and brilliant minds behind it. But really, that is an understatement. We have a bold vision for the future and we’re looking forward to sharing it with you over the coming months and years.

The changes you’ll see will be additive to our existing capabilities; you can expect to see deeper integration with Premiere Pro and other Adobe products. We will also continue our commitment to invest in other partner integrations including Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, and AVID Media Composer.

Until the transaction closes, it’s business as usual for Frame.io. Our customers can count on the same great products, services, and prices that we offer today.

We look forward to starting this next chapter alongside you as we continue working to bring you an even better version of Frame.io.

Here we go!
