Frame.io Ecosystem and Integrations: Powering Creative Workflows Across APIs

Frame.io has always been built to enable creative collaboration, but as workflows become more complex, the need for customization, automation, and integration has grown. That’s where the Frame.io Developer Platform comes into play. From native Adobe integrations to a publicly available API, we’re expanding the ways teams can connect Frame.io to their broader ecosystem for faster, more flexible workflows across creative production.

Today, we’re broadening what’s possible with Frame.io by introducing new integrations and early access to our Version 4 (V4) API platform for all.

Let’s break down what’s new, how these updates work, and why it matters.

What’s New: Platform & Integration Updates

Frame.io V4 APIs: Now in Early Access

We’re excited to launch the Early Access Program for Frame.io V4 APIs, now available to accounts managed directly in Frame.io—previously only accessible to our Enterprise customers through Adobe’s Admin Console. This program will unlock next-generation workflow automations and integrations for all V4 accounts without requiring a migration to Adobe’s Admin Console.

This expanded access enables teams to build and test integrations faster while exploring new capabilities like:

  • Webhooks that enable real-time, event-based triggers
  • Custom Actions (in beta) that trigger downstream logic based on a desired activity, like pushing an asset to your MAM, notifying teams of a status change in other communication tools, and generating a variety of aspect ratio variations from a single asset.
  • Self-service API access and updated developer documentation for faster and easier setups (coming soon).

Whether you’re syncing asset status across tools or triggering generative workflows, our Developer Platform, APIs, and self-service developer docs give you the foundation to build systems tailored to your team.

Connect Frame.io and Workfront through Fusion

During Adobe Summit in March, we announced a Workfront Fusion Connector Beta for Frame.io V4 that allows for a no/low-code integration that connects Frame.io’s creative management platform together with Workfront’s work management solution—offering a more efficient way for Adobe customers to create content at scale.

With the Fusion Connector’s 25+ pre-built actions, teams can now automatically create Frame.io projects from Workfront campaigns, sync asset status between Frame.io and Workfront tasks, and so much more.

Together, Frame.io and Workfront deliver a complete solution for faster, more compliant content—one that includes comprehensive work visibility, centralized collaboration, and connected review and approval workflows.

You’ll need a Workfront account with Fusion access to unlock this connectivity, so reach out to your Adobe contact to learn more.

New Third-Party Integrations for Camera to Cloud

We’re excited to announce some incredible Camera to Cloud front partner innovations this year:

  • NanoLogger App: Ambient’s new iOS app enables real-time logging on set for precision timecode and metadata that syncs directly to mobile C2C workflows. To learn more about real-time logging, check out our workflow overview with Red Bull Media House.
  • New Lumix Models: Our partners over at Lumix continue to innovate and release new models with Camera to Cloud built natively into their cameras. Recently announced were the S1II and S1IIE, both unlocking automatic photo and video uploads to the cloud for real-time feedback and faster access for other creative collaborators.
  • MAVIS: The MAVIS camera app for iOS delivers a seamless experience of capturing high-quality footage with your smartphone and uploading it directly to Frame.io for faster project turnarounds and centralized production management.

Frame.io Ecosystem: How It All Connects

All of these releases are a part of the broader Frame.io Developer Platform, designed to help customers connect, automate, and innovate across their creative tech stacks. Here’s a breakdown of the different kinds of integrations made possible by our Developer Platform and APIs.

Third-Party Integrations

Frame.io APIs allow for connectivity with a wide range of external tools used across creative pipelines. These integrations could span work management, file delivery, or remote collaboration, and they fall into three primary buckets:

  • Adobe-developed integrations: Frame.io leverages third-party APIs to develop purpose-built integrations for our customers.
  • Co-developed integrations: Frame.io and platform partners work together to build mutually beneficial connected automation for our customers.
  • Third-party developed integrations: Platform partners can build automations for Frame.io entirely independent of Frame.io’s involvement.
    • Frame.io Connected Ecosystem: Creative collaboration and asset organization automation and data syncing between Frame.io and work management, MAM/DAMs, creative tools, and more.
    • Camera to Cloud (C2C) ecosystem: Automated photo, video, audio, and file transfers directly from hardware and software recording devices to Frame.io.

Developer Platform and APIs

At the core of Frame.io’s extensibility are the Developer Platform and its supported APIs. This is where enterprise teams, partners, system integrators, and workflow builders can build custom workflows that fit their exact needs like:

  • Automating asset organization, tagging, or approvals
  • Building integrations with internal MAM/DAM systems
  • Triggering AI-powered actions, like auto-generating Firefly content or metadata tagging

Whether you’re a broadcaster automating ingest and archive workflows, or a brand building an in-house production pipeline, the Frame.io API gives you the power to make Frame.io work the way you do.

The Frame.io Developer Platform helps eliminate workflow friction by connecting the dots across the creative process, whether you’re managing projects, creating content, or delivering final assets.

By supporting native integrations, third-party partners, low-code tools, and a full-featured API, Frame.io gives teams the flexibility to build a workflow that fits them—not the other way around.
