Summer is heating up—and so is Frame.io with these hot-off-the-press June releases.
Whether you’re a power user or just want to work like one, June’s updates are all about helping you move faster, stay organized, and keep your workflows connected. From smarter navigation and deeper Share insights to speaker-aware transcripts and developer-first API improvements, Frame.io Version 4 is becoming more powerful than ever.
Let’s dive into what’s new in June.
Share Activity: Know when work moves forward
No more chasing down feedback over email or Slack. With Share Activity tracking, you can now see exactly what kind of engagement your Shares are getting.
See whether a Share was opened, which assets were viewed or downloaded, and if comments were left. That extra context means fewer check-ins and clearer next steps—helping you move projects forward faster and communicate with stakeholders efficiently.
Transcription Speaker ID: Smarter, more readable transcripts
Frame.io transcription just got better—again.
Now you can enable Speaker ID to identify and label different speakers in your audio or video files (e.g., Speaker 1, Speaker 2). It’s optional, easy to use, and incredibly helpful when reviewing interviews, conversations, or multi-speaker content.
Speaker ID makes transcripts easier to follow, faster to scan, and more accurate for reviewing, editing, or creating captions—and more improvements are on the way. Note that Speaker ID may not be available in regions due to biometric laws for web products.
All Collections page: All your Collections in one view
Collections are a powerful way to dynamically organize and present assets using metadata—but until now, you could only navigate to them from the Project sidebar. That’s why we’ve added a new All Collections page to the top of the Collections list within each project.
Now, you can instantly see all Collections across a project in one view, making it much easier to find, manage, and keep track of the work that matters most.
Upload jobs that go beyond 24 hours
Frame.io is known for lightning-fast uploads—and it’s now even better at handling the long ones.
With the new Dynamic Uploader, upload jobs that exceed 24 hours can now complete successfully in the web app. This is especially useful for teams working with large RAW files or high-resolution media.
When you’re uploading directly in Frame.io, you can count on fault-tolerant, large file uploads up to 5TB for all your creative file management.
Developer Platform & APIs: More access, more control
This month, we’ve moved two key developer capabilities forward:
Create once, use many times with account-level metadata fields (Early Access)
Define custom metadata fields once and apply them across every project in your account. If you’re in a larger org or just an efficient power user, you’ll like the consistency in how you tag, search, and manage assets—and the ability to scale without recreating fields every time.
Event-driven workflows with webhooks. Now available to all.
Webhooks let you build event-driven automations that respond to changes in real time—and they’re now fully production-ready for all users on the V4 API. Keep checking back as we’re continuing to help you do more with the Developer Platform.
More improvements that make life just plain easier
You asked, we listened. We’ve packed in some thoughtful enhancements this month that smooth out rough edges and improve everyday usability:
Flatten Folders banner
When Flatten Folders is enabled, you’ll now see a banner that explains what’s active—and offers a quick toggle to disable. This brings clarity to a setting that can change how your files behave in a project, like creating a new folder or drag and drop.
‘View in Project’ for assets via Shares
Now you can view an asset directly in its Project—right from a Share. That means you’ll quickly be able to see where an asset sits in its Project or folder, in case you need to add a new version or re-share with someone else.
Scroll through a PDF with a mouse or trackpad
You can now swipe or scroll through multipage PDFs using your mouse or trackpad—making long document reviews faster and more natural.
iOS app updates
- Uploading while the app is backgrounded is now supported, enabling multitasking and improving upload reliability.
- Proxy downloads are now available to give you more control over bandwidth and file sizes when working on mobile.
