July Product Releases Recap: The Summer of Shipping Continues

July was packed with big updates to Frame.io, with innovation across nearly every part of the product.

Some are major upgrades that bring back or expand popular capabilities, others are small quality-of-life improvements that make your work smoother and faster. Together, they make the latest version of Frame.io more capable, more connected, and more efficient.

From a redesigned Premiere panel that brings in-app project access, to enterprise-grade security controls, to new API capabilities and mobile performance improvements, this is one of our most wide-ranging updates yet.

Here’s what’s new:

Redesigned Premiere panel (beta): Collaborate without leaving your timeline

When we launched Frame.io Version 4 in 2024, our priority was to get its most important capabilities into your hands quickly—but that meant we had to make some tough decisions about what to include in scope for our earliest releases. This month, we’re excited to roll out a completely rebuilt Premiere integration—our best version yet.

The newly redesigned Frame.io panel for Premiere Pro (beta) gives you direct access to all of your accounts, workspaces, projects, and assets without leaving Premiere. You can now sync comments in Frame.io to markers in Premiere—maintaining alignment between feedback and your edit—and for the first time, you can import assets directly from Frame.io into your Premiere project.

Here’s how to access it:

  1. Update Premiere Pro (beta) to the latest build.
  1. Access the panel via ‘Window > Frame.io V4 (Beta)’
  1. Sign in to your Frame.io account.

The beta is available now with a full production release coming later this year. Give it a try today and let us know what you think by using the feedback button (💡) at the top right corner of the panel.

More ways to keep your content secure and under control

July brings two major security updates designed to give you more granular control over your content.

Asset Lifecycle Management: Set automatic asset expiration dates

When you’re managing multiple projects across a large team, media files can pile up fast—making it harder to keep workspaces organized and secure. Asset Lifecycle Management solves this by letting Enterprise admins set automated expiration dates for uploaded assets, so they’re deleted after a set period of time.

Enterprise admins can apply these policies at the account and workspace level, and add exemptions at the project level. You’ll see a countdown on assets scheduled to expire, and admins can easily reset the asset lifecycle clock or recover recently deleted files within 30 days.

This automation reduces manual cleanup, lowers the risk of storing outdated or sensitive files, and helps keep your Frame.io environment fresh and compliant—without extra effort.

Share Restricted Folders without compromising security

Restricted Folders give you fine-grained control over who can see your most sensitive content—and now, you can securely include them in Shares.

When you add a Restricted Folder—or assets inside a Restricted Folder—to a Share, they follow the Share’s access rules. That means you can collaborate with the right people while keeping tight control over private material.

We’ve also built in warning and confirmation safeguards to help prevent accidental exposure. You can even mix restricted and unrestricted items in the same Share, with warnings before you proceed.

Instant workspace access: Log in faster and get straight to work

Logging in should never slow you down—but we’ve heard from many of you that it sometimes did. Users told us they were already signed in, but still landed on the marketing site and had to log in again just to get back to work. This extra step caused confusion and wasted time.

We’ve fixed the bugs behind that behavior and rolled out a new experience for everyone. Now, if you’re already logged into Frame.io and type frame.io in your browser, you’ll go straight to your workspace—bypassing the marketing site entirely. No unnecessary stops, no extra clicks—just instant access to your projects so you can start working right away.

API & developer platform updates: Build, automate, and connect without roadblocks

We’ve made it easier than ever for developers to connect Frame.io to the tools and workflows they rely on.

Adobe Account Connect (Early Access): Use your Adobe account to sign in to Frame.io

All users on the latest version of Frame.io can now link their Frame.io account to their Adobe ID to self-serve API access. Once linked, you can generate OAuth tokens from developer.adobe.com without needing to go through Support.

Adobe authentication allows for stronger 2FA security and synchronizing with your Frame.io account, as well as allowing you to build your own integrations and use partner integrations with Frame.io Version 4’s API.

Updated transcription processing: More accurate transcripts faster than ever

We’ve upgraded our speech-to-text engine to deliver transcripts that are more accurate and faster to process. We’ve also updated the transcript display so that the most recently edited or inserted transcript appears first. And to top it off, we fixed a bug where captions weren’t removed after transcript file deletion.

Camera to Cloud: New partner updates and a behind-the-scenes workflow story

Upload Nikon footage to Frame.io from anywhere: Nikon NX MobileAir (iOS)

For the first time, Nikon camera users can upload directly to Frame.io via iOS. Using NX MobileAir with the Nikon Z6 III, Z8, or Z9, you can send H.264/H.265 .MP4/.MOV video straight from your camera to the cloud—no laptop, no card transfers. This is a game-changer for live event coverage, sports, news, and any fast-turnaround content.

Easier admin oversight and management

Enterprise customers can now see the number of purchased licenses on the Usage page for more transparent provisioning. Admins can also export CSVs of users, workspaces, and projects directly from Account Settings.

Transfer App 1.8.1: Transfer files faster with the latest Transfer App update

The Transfer App 1.8.1 now ships as a Mac ARM-compatible build with auto-detection for your system architecture. Whether you’re updating or installing for the first time, you’ll get one of the industry’s fastest file transfer experiences.
