Introducing the new Frame.io Project View

This past April we previewed a new and improved Frame.io, our biggest product update yet. Since the announcement, our team has been hard at work on the features we unveiled. We launched image review in May, a top requested feature that expanded Frame.io beyond video.

Today, we’re thrilled to roll-out the next phase of the new Frame.io with the launch of the all-new project view.

As the place where you upload and manage all projects in Frame.io, it has been a priority for us to make project view work even harder for you. We redesigned the user interface to be more useful and intuitive, and overhauled the codebase to improve performance. Here are just a few of the highlights you can expect to see in your Frame.io account today:

A faster Frame.io, no matter the project size

The new project view is now faster than ever. It’s been rebuilt to offer the same performance you’ve come to expect from Frame.io, regardless of how many assets you store in a project. Upload fifteen assets or five hundred, the performance of Frame.io will stay the same.

Dynamic storage counts

We’ve also made it easier for you to keep tabs on your Frame.io storage usage. With the new project view, you can see how much storage you’re using across your entire project, including files nested deep in a folder directory. As you navigate down into folders, we’ll update your storage count so you can see how much you’re using in each specific subfolder.

A better way to upload

Starting today, you can also drag and drop content anywhere in the project view to upload–no more scrolling to the bottom of a project. You can even see the latest updates being made to your projects as they happen–if another user uploads to a project you’re viewing, you’ll know exactly when their upload starts.

We’ve heard from many of you that full folder uploads would be a game-changer, which is why we’re thrilled to share that starting today, you can now upload folders. Just grab a folder from your desktop and drop it into Frame.io–and we take care of the rest. Media will upload at industry-leading speeds, complete with nested folders intact.

Smoother drag-and-drop

We’ve always strived to make Frame.io feel like a native desktop app. In this update, we’ve dramatically improved all drag-and-drop behaviors. You now get a drop indicator when you drag so you know exactly where you’re moving files in the grid. Version stack drag-and-drop offers you an all-around better experience, and folder drag-and-drop is so smooth it will make staying organized that much easier.

Batch actions and much more

Details matter at Frame.io. As you begin using the new project view, you’ll notice we’ve made a number of incremental changes that, when combined, dramatically improve your workflow. You can now batch update status labels, sort by comment count, and rename folders during the creation flow. Folders now support QuickLook and you can even hover scrub the content within a folder before diving in deeper.

More on the Way

All of the updates in the all-new Frame.io are still on their way and we may have even added a few new ones. Keep an eye out for additional updates over the coming weeks and months. In the meantime, we’re committed to making the new project view even more useful, and look forward to hearing your feedback.
