Frame.io V4: The Fully Reimagined Platform is Now Available for All

Announced today at Adobe Max, the all-new Frame.io V4 becomes available to every customer. Additionally, new Camera to Cloud partnerships and integrations with Canon, Leica, and Nikon cameras open cloud-native workflows to photographers and videographers worldwide, no matter their hardware preference.

More powerful, more flexible, more creative. Frame.io V4 is our best yet.

Frame.io V4

Every aspect of Frame.io has been completely redesigned to be faster, more performant, and more intuitive. New features for asset and workflow management, and powerful enhancements to review-and-approval and collaboration experiences make Version 4 the most substantial update we’ve ever released.

Because the creative workflow often involves using several creative tools and takes a more iterative journey from ideation to completion, general-purpose storage and task-management applications can create unintended friction. Frame.io is different. We built Frame.io to centralize all creatives, collaborators, and stakeholders—along with the assets they’re working on—in one place.

Featuring a brand-new metadata model, creatives and their teams can effortlessly organize and manage assets while designing custom workflows that boost productivity. By tagging assets with out-of-the-box or custom metadata like star ratings, assignee, due date, media type, social media platform—or whatever else matters to you—it’s easy to create smart folders called “Collections” that automatically update, organize, and display assets based on how you work. For example, you can create a Collection to facilitate multi-stage review and approvals with clients and stakeholders, manage dailies distribution, or organize creative assets by release date, sorted by social media platform.

Our new state-of-the-art streaming player guarantees superior playback with minimal buffering and interruptions. New frame-accurate hover and high-resolution preview during scrubbing ensures that each pixel is presented with impeccable clarity even as you navigate to your desired clip location.

Widely recognized as best-in-class for video workflows, Frame.io also accommodates a vast array of file types across photography, design, and documents, providing a single platform for creative teams to organize, share, and engage with media. Along with that, a completely revamped comparison viewer and the review and commenting system facilitates more specific feedback with point-and-click annotations, emojis, comment attachments, streamlined hashtags, and smarter @ mentions.

Our redesigned iOS and iPad apps make it easier than ever to stay connected to your projects on the go. Additionally, Frame.io has robust security features that give you control over access. With TPN Gold Shield, SOC 2 Type 2, ISO 27001 certifications, and enterprise-grade security, your creative assets are protected until you’re ready to share them with the world.

Since the beta release in April, Frame.io V4 has been thoroughly tested across a wide range of real-world workflows and creative disciplines. Throughout this period, we’ve gathered valuable feedback from our beta users and incorporated it into the latest version, which we’re excited for you to try. (Check out our customer story about how Princess Cruise Lines created their recent campaign for their Alaska adventures.)

The bottom line: V4 is built for everyone involved with content-creation. Organize media, manage work, share for review, collaborate, exchange and deliver assets – all in one platform.

The Lightroom Connection

Previously released in beta, the Frame.io direct connection to Lightroom is now generally available. Enabled through Frame.io’s Camera to Cloud integrations with your favorite hardware providers, this connection allows for the fastest photo workflows possible.

Photographers can now automatically transfer all images uploaded via Frame.io’s Camera to Cloud into their Lightroom account. The service also allows for new workflows where photographers can make selects in Frame.io and push their best images into Lightroom for editing. Editors can access the images no matter where they’re located, in real time, and once the images have been retouched or edited they can upload them back into Frame.io for delivery or distribution. There are no tethers required and no need to remove and download media.

Welcoming new Camera to Cloud partners

We’re thrilled to further expand our C2C camera ecosystem as new partners Canon, Nikon, and Leica announce forthcoming integrations, bringing C2C functionality into their product offerings.

This means that most of the world’s top digital camera manufacturers have committed to partnering with Adobe. Now, even more photographers and videographers can enjoy the benefits of Camera to Cloud workflows, which enable faster project turnarounds, real-time feedback, and greater peace of mind.

Camera support for Frame.io C2C now includes Canon, Nikon, and Leica.

This move represents a leap forward in industry standardization, offering unparalleled flexibility and efficiency to creatives across an even wider array of disciplines—regardless of camera brand preference. Paired with the release of Frame.io V4 and the Frame.io connection with Lightroom, Adobe is breaking down barriers for creatives by reducing media management headaches and workflow inefficiencies with a more direct path from camera capture through final delivery.

The first products from Canon, Nikon, and Leica to adopt the Frame.io Camera to Cloud Standard are:

Canon C400 and C80

Favorites among news and documentary filmmakers for their versatility, the next generation of Canon cameras has arrived and is slated to include native support for C2C later this year. The new C400 and the smaller C80 both feature Canon’s newly-developed 6K Full-Frame CMOS triple-base ISO sensor, supporting Full Frame, Super 35, and Super 16mm (C400 only) modes, allowing teams to cinematically capture everything from run-and-gun footage to sit-down interviews—while automatically having that footage stored safely in the cloud and immediately available to editors.

Nikon Z6iii, Z8, and Z9 through NX MobileAir

Whether you’re a professional capturing high-speed action or shooting dynamic video content for a large brand, Nikon flagship mirrorless models are designed to excel as true hybrid cameras for photographers and videographers. From freezing time at 20fps with a 1000+ RAW frame buffer to get the perfect moment, or slowing it down with 4K 120p video, these powerful cameras are expanding their performance and capabilities even further by leveraging the NX MobileAir app to instantly send files to Frame.io, getting your footage to editing tools while events are still in motion. Fans or viewers stay engaged in the action via timely social media posts, and clients can get edits for approval faster than ever with this new integration. Release for the new firmware is slated for the first half of 2025.

Leica SL3

The Leica SL3, with incredible dynamic range, 60MP sensor, and 8K video capabilities, is a perfect companion for brand shoots and on-the-go video and photo content. Available in 2025, hybrid creators can capture their valuable video or images with the assurance that they’re automatically backed up to the cloud—or off to collaborators—regardless of the distance between them.

Beyond that, teams can automatically centralize and organize media from multiple cameras, review dailies, and create streamlined file transfers to remote editors or collaborators—all in one place and all without having to download or transport physical media. And with our new C2C Real-Time Logging workflow, enabled by Ambient, stakeholders and creatives can also leave comments as video footage is being captured to give editors real-time feedback.

Creative freedom

We understand that each project has its particular nuances, and these new features and integrations have been designed to give you the freedom to work the way you want to—from ideation through completion. More importantly, as we hear more about how you’re using the product, what features you use most—or wish you had—we’ll continue to build a product that makes your workflow process more seamless. Because, in the end, the best tools are the ones that disappear so you can focus on what you’re passionate about: creating.
